About Us

Striving for excellence in Primary Health Care

Shale Medical Clinic was established in 2017 by Dr Joel Giddey, Dr Lealet van Staden and Dr Ryan White. All three founding physicians hail from South Africa originally and after establishing their own practices in Drayton Valley saw the need for an additional clinic in the Town.

Our Vision

We focus keenly on creating and establishing ourselves at the center of the “Patient Home”. We believe that optimal health outcomes are derived by a consistent relationship of trust between a patient and their health providers. The family physician plays a critical role in bringing this “team” together. When patients are in linked to the one-patient, one-doctor & one-pharmacist model we find increased safety and efficacy in treatment. When this is further extended outward to other providers in nursing/rehab/hospital & auxiliary fields with the family physician a facilitator it results in a supportive and organized team fully engaged with the patient’s health outcomes as the goal.

Facilities

Our clinic was designed to be modern and welcoming, we are proud to feature state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to provide and efficient and professional service level to our patients.

We feel fortunate to have brought new life to one of Drayton Valley’s oldest buildings. Built on the site of one of the first gas stations in town and then a car dealership and workshop, we discovered the old girl had many secrets to tell during the renovation. Now fully modernized and brought up to the latest standards we trust it will provide our great town with many more years of service.

The clinic is equipped with 12 consultation rooms, a minor surgery procedure room, 2 nursing triage rooms and several administrative support offices. We are fully wheelchair accessible and service animal friendly.

We are located in the center of town and parking is available in front of the building and at several nearby public parking lots.

Drayton Valley

It was early in the 20th century when the first European settlers arrived in the Drayton Valley area. They made their living either as lumbermen or trappers, making use of the resources in the undeveloped district.

Now home to over 8,000 residents, this small town is filled with opportunities for all.
