I really love working with families.
Family Physician
Dr van Staden is originally from South Africa. She studied at the University of the Free State and completed her medical degree in 2009. She then went on to do her internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, which is famous for being the hospital where Dr Christiaan Barnard performed the world’s very first successful heart transplant. After her internship, Dr van Staden spent a year working at a maternity hospital and was mostly involved with neonatology, working in the neonatal ICU. She decided to fulfill her career by emigrating to Canada.
Dr van Staden and her husband have lived in Drayton Valley for the past 20 months and, with the arrival of the first addition to their family, hope to call it home for a long time to come. When asked why they chose to move to this town, she answered “Drayton Valley is a special place that crept into our hearts from our very first visit!”. The friendly people and natural beauty made Drayton Valley the obvious choice, and they have not looked back.
“The community in Drayton Valley make it such a special place to live. People opened their hearts and their homes from the day we arrived, and made a very emotional move a lot easier to deal with. Drayton Valley is a town where the Canadian stereotype of being friendly is lived every day”.
